- Aug. 12 King spoke at SCLC convention and called for an end of US bombing in North Vietnam

- Aug. 17 King arrived at LAX. He was invited to help ease racial tensions following the riots
- Aug. 19 King answered questions during news conference at LA City Hall. He suggested Police Chief Parker resign following LAPD actions during the riots
- Aug. 20 King spoke with President Johnson before leaving Los Angeles. He recommended Johnson roll out a federal anti-poverty program immediately.
